This project is a descriptive account of the public reaction to a lost wallet. I strategically positioned a wallet filled with fake cards and money in the Queen St Mall. I then filmed the reactions of passers by from a safe distance. The project provides insight into human behaviour by visually representing my findings in relation to reactions, morals, the physical journey, time, distance and area.
The project essentially maps the paths different members of the public took. Some stopped for a moment to inspect the wallet, others sat close it it then gradually moved closer. Where incidents like this occurred, the yellow and purple circles expand to represent the pause in time. The 8 panel piece flows in order of time and mobile phone screen captures specify exactly the time different conversations surrounding the wallet occurred. Eventually, one woman placed the wallet in her bag and left the original location. The journey she took was then mapped as she delivered the wallet to the local Police Beat. The environment where the different incidents occurred was recorded through photographs of the surrounding typography.
